Unforgettable Summer Camp Adventures at Camp Durant

Get Ready for the Ultimate Summer of Scouting at Camp Durant

Tucked away in the heart of North Carolina’s Sandhills, Camp Durant is more than just a summer camp—it’s 2,000 acres of wild adventure, lifelong friendships, and memories that don’t need a Wi-Fi signal. Every summer, Scouts from across the country gather here to earn merit badges, push their limits, and experience a week that changes everything.

With 50+ merit badges to choose from, Scouts BSA Summer Camp lets each Scout shape their own journey. Whether it’s climbing to new heights, hitting the bullseye in archery, or relaxing in our cool lake, every activity is designed to challenge, inspire, and ignite their spirit of adventure.

We’ve got something for every Scout:

  • New to camp? Our First-Year Camper program helps brand-new Scouts get comfortable with outdoor skills and early rank requirements.

  • Working on Eagle? Our Trail to Eagle program is packed with Eagle-required badges and mentorship to help Scouts stay on the path to Scouting’s highest rank.

  • 14 or older? Our newly revamped Next Level Stuff (NLS) program is designed just for older youth, offering advanced challenges, leadership opportunities, and a deeper dive into high-adventure skills.

  • And launching Week 3 only, our brand-new Venturing program supports Ranger, Quest, TRUST, and other advancement needs—perfect for Venturers who want to learn, lead, and level up.

When it’s time to relax, you’ll appreciate the comforts that set us apart:

  • Single-stall toilets and showers at every campsite, as well as electricity and sheltered meeting areas.

  • An air-conditioned dining hall that feeds 700 hungry Scouts and leaders with delicious meals (yes, seconds go fast!). Tater tot bar, SLUSH PUPPIES, salad bar, and more.

  • Reliable wi-fi for those who need to connect online in any of our main area facilities.

  • Beautiful trails, lakes, and woods that make every moment feel like a step into the wild.

Whether you’re a first-year Scout or a seasoned Venturer, Camp Durant delivers a summer experience you’ll never forget.

This is more than camp. This is your summer home.
Welcome home.

Best summer camp ever attended. Restrooms/showers appropriate for camp expectations. Tents and cots well-made and sturdy. Staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Excellent staff can't say enough about this place the trading post is top class as well as the senior staff that runs it. Aquatics all the way around is an excellent old school setup and feel, very well trained lifeguards and medics, one lifeguard of many that were at attention even made a point to explain they weren't going to make direct eye contact while giving verbal assistance. The food vendor even if new was superior to most camp food I have encountered.

Camp Durant is an amazing Boy Scout (Now called Scouting America) camp. They have great bathhouses, nice pavilions and spacious campsites. They have an awesome summer camp program that my kids like. I would recommend this for any Scouting units that want to come for summer camp or just regular camping.
