What? The Occoneechee Council Alumni Association is a group for all Scouting supporters regardless of registration status.

Who? Unregistered Scouters and those interested in renewing friendships with former Scouts and Scouters.

Why? The intent of the group is to provide opportunities for Scouting alumni to connect with each other, share experiences, and get re-engaged with the Scouting program.

How? Events will be planned in the future around the Council, and Alumni invited to these events. These events and outreach efforts will be coordinated by the Council Alumni Committee. Additionally, there will be a Council Alumni of the Year Award presented each year. The nomination process will be posted here once nominations are being accepted.

Also a Facebook Group has currently been setup to share information about future activities and gather alumni. Please like and share our group with fellow Scouters and former Scouts know.

Council Alumnus of the Year Award

The Council Alumus of the Year Award is administered by the Occoneechee Council Alumni Committee. The council is allowed a maximum of one Alumnus of the Year per calendar year. The selection committee should consider the Alumni effort as eighty percent and the community / professional effort as twenty percent of the overall selection process.

Council Distinguished Alumnus Award

The Council Distinguished Alumnus Award is granted by the BSA Alumni association, through recommendation of the local council’s Alumni committee. This prestigious recognition honors those Alumni who have distinguished themselves through their positive actions, accomplishments, and devotion to their profession, hobby, community, and beliefs.

There is no annual limit on the number of recipients, and nominations are accepted throughout the year. Completed nomination forms should be sent to [email protected].
