In 2024, the Occoneechee Council achieved significant milestones:
Membership Expansion: For the third consecutive year, youth membership and total Scouting units grew, marking an 11% cumulative increase since the challenges of COVID-19.
Scoutreach Success: Membership in Scoutreach programs surged by an impressive 62%, growing from 386 to 627 youth members. These programs ensure that underserved communities have access to the enriching experiences Scouting offers.
Exploring Workforce Development: Participation in Exploring programs increased by 42%, thanks to partnerships with organizations like Truist, Capitol Broadcasting Company, The Durham Bulls, The North Carolina Highway Patrol, and Wake Tech. These programs provide hands-on exposure to career opportunities and real-world challenges for students.
