Scouting For Food

Join our Scouting for Food Drive this fall!

Now through Dec. 15, 2024: Collect nonperishable food items for families in need!

  1. Pick up door hangers from your district executive or at:
⇒ The Council Office (3231 Atlantic Ave., Raleigh)
    ⇒ Your district’s November Roundtable
  2. Choose a date you plan to collect food before Dec. 15, write that date on your door hangers, and then distribute door hangers in your neighborhood.
    1. We recommend distributing door hangers at least a week before your collection date to give families time to gather items.
    2. Keep track of where you distributed door hangers to ensure you return to all of those homes to collect food.
  3. Collect food on that date and deliver to your local food bank by Dec. 15. You are welcome to donate to the food bank/pantry of your choice, or use the lists we compiled by district below.
  4. Share your total collected food weight. Fill out a quick Unit Collection Report so we can celebrate this year’s totals! Units must submit their totals by Dec. 20.
  5. Post social media video/pictures of your Scouts in action and tag the council on your posts. We’ll reshare!

All food items must be nonperishable. Please do not include frozen or open items, expired food or glass containers.

Need to find a food bank?

Here are lists of food banks that have agreed to receive donations during normal operating hours from Scouting for Food. We’ve been told by a few food banks that units who prefer to do a weekend drop-off can call the food bank in advance and schedule a day and time for the drop-off.
